On Saturday, Laura ran more of her new D&D campaign. We inched closer to our goal and mostly had a good time. On Sunday, played some Deadlands Reloaded with [livejournal.com profile] forvrin as GM and [livejournal.com profile] weetanya and [livejournal.com profile] laughingfreeman. Much violence as we drove off a gang of outlaws that had taken over our town (and had to deal with an undead Texas Ranger back for vengeance on the same set of outlaws).

Finished watching Season 2 of Deadwood which ended on a surprisingly positive note, setting thing up for the 3rd season. And watch the modern Disney remake of Around the World in 80 Days. Terrible, just terrible, but with a few fun scenes including some good Jackie Chan fights and some fun cameos (the best by John Cleese) but over all, terrible. Why do Disney's writer things they are better then the material they are working from? My Grade: D+/C-

Heh. A couple highlights:

The Harrowed Ranger was a harrowed before he came to town. That's why I was going to crucify him. Usually it takes 1 - 3 days for a harrowed to harrow. This guy just had to wake up.

I initially planned for a lot more politicking; I was going to have it so everyone had to convince people to join up, and the total number of "Townsfolk" mooks you had under your control was going to be determined by how many people you swayed. (Such as one or two in strictly interpersonal thing, but if someone did a really good persuade roll, that might bring in as many as 10. But there wouldn't be a single "Crispin's Day Speech" that would get you the whole town. You'd have to deal with people on a one on one or faction by faction basis. But y'all went the Yojimbo route instead, and I think it worked out rather well.

It's not just Disney, as I have already ranted over on my own LJ. It's Hollywood. They think they're better than Chris Claremont, and that's praying to a false idol as far as I'm concerned.

I stopped watching Disney movies with certain exceptions (like the Princess Diaries.) Superhero adaptations are next on the list.
