The latest incarnation of Laura's Drakkonhold campaign drew to a close after four years. A quiet end to the story of half group, as two of the main characters who move into retirement. Kind of sad but nice to tie up some of the loose threads.
We have watched two movies lately, one was much better then I expected, the other, not so much.
The first was Dog Soldiers, a surprisingly good horror movie with werewolves. The protagonists are a squad of British soldiers who actually act like military professionals which is a nice change for the movies. Worth watching if you like such movies though the last quarter is a bit weaker then the rest of the movie. My Grade: B-/B
The other, which confirmed the reviews I had heard, was Elektra. Jennifer Garner simply is not convincing as an assassin, let alone as a heroine. The special effects were pretty good and the fights were decent, but the plot, not so good. Will Yun Lee was superb as the chief villain, Kirigi, who was several times cooler then Elektra. Unfortunately, the heroes only win because the main villain does something a) incredibly stupid and b) out of character. My Grade: C-
