Ben Baugh lent us his remastered version of the original STAR WARS trilogy (wide-creen of course) and we watched Star Wars (or Episode IV: A New Hope, if you prefer). Still such a wonderful movie, even if some of his re-editing to update the special effects fall a bit flat. Overall still a delightful experience and reminded me of why I fell in love with Star Wars when I first say it on the big screen all those years ago. My Grade: A/A- (for annoying re-editing choices)

Interestingly, Islam is finding a receptive ground in southern Mexico among the native peoples there, read about the Mayan-Muslims.

Geez, southern Mexico sounds like a depressing place.

But come on, they ban a group the Mayans from even being on the same sidewalk as them, and then go on to worry they might rebel? It's like they want another popular uprising.

Some people just do not learn from history . . .

To me, most of Mexico sound pretty depressing.

Oh lovely. As if we didn't have enough problems as it is south of the U.S..

As for A New Hope, I have to agree with you. While I watch it now and wince at some of the lines, I will admit that there was a powerful bit of storytelling that Lucas seems to have forgotten. But at least we have the original VHS tapes without the new additions and fond memories of seeing them in the theatres.

Several things in that article strike me as very peculiar word choices, if not obvious mistakes. Google 'Murabitun' for information on what seems to be an extremely peculiar group, which is neither Sunni nor 'primal', whatever that means.

Still, if people will swallow one monotheism they'll swallow another.

It's in Spiegel, so it's probably translated from German. That would explain some of the word choices.
