akaihyoLet us see, what has been going on. Work, more project work, trying to get back into exercising, some reading. Even a little gaming (in the sense of doing prep work for various games).
Been catching up on my political reading. Pondering the situation in Iraq. I am really not pleased about being there, but now that we are there we need to get Iraq up and running as functional state before we leave.
Though I wish we had gone in with a better plan for restructuring Iraq afterwards. And I have news for people who expect us to leave soon, it took us six and a half year before we ended our military occupation of Japan after WW2, so do not expect us to get out of Iraq anytime sooner. We had best get the UN involved to assist in restructuring and rebuilding. This is also a wonderful chance to welcome Iran back into the family of nations in assisting with rebuilding Iraq as they have a vested interest in a stable, prosperous and non-militarized Iraq.
OK, enough politics for now. Will try to update again soon.

Date: 2003-09-18 02:32 pm (UTC)Well, so far they seem to be dragging their feet on the matter. And I have no faith in the UN accomplishing anything of substance on this.

Date: 2003-09-18 07:48 pm (UTC)However, with UN assistance we can get India and some of the other nations to provide additional troops and other specialists. From security to rebuilding, more people are needed in Iraq. And the UN can be effective in certain tasks when allowed, I suspect this would be one of them.
