Yes, I have fallen a bit behind on these for various reasons.

Recently we have watched:
The Last Detective, Series 1 starring Peter Davidson as "Dangerous" Davis, so called because he is not. A genuinely nice fellow, and long time lowest grade detective, with a broken marriage and little prospect of a better future, he just keeps doing his job because it is the right thing to do. The four stories that compose the series often have Davis at odd with his fellow detectives, especially his commanding officer, because he cares about the people involved. Very well done series, if rather tragic at points. My Grade: B

Pretty Dirty Things, a movie about the secret world that illegal immigrants in London live in. The menial jobs, paid in cash, hidden jobs done by overlooked people. A criminal life, not because they are criminals but just because their very presence is illegal. A fascinating, if frightening and disturbing, window on another world. A rather dark story, but tightly written and very well acted. (And for bonus geek points, Chiwetel Ejiofor who plays the main character also played the Operative in Serenity.) My grade: C+/B-
