We watched the very strange French SF movie Immortel on DVD. It was written and directed by Enki Bilal, who also wrote the comics it was adapted from, so, yes, it is an OVA mixing live action and CGI characters. Like any good OVA, it makes no sense, being a loose collection of plot elements and fascinating visuals with no explanations. Visually fascinating and occasionally beautiful, a European Heavy Metal-style comic brought to life, with all of the weirdness that implies. Lots of interesting ideas are thrown out, but never make sense, and the movie just drifts along, coming to an end but not a conclusion. My Grade: D+/C-

The Chinese Government likes to forget about the Cultural Revolution as much as it can, but you should remember it. (The first part of the documentary can be found here on YouTube.)

From the tragic to the comedic, some commentary on the numbers of potential presidential candidates for the 2008 US election.
