Revenge of the Sith
May. 22nd, 2005 05:50 pmLaura, Ali and I went to see Revenge of the Sith today. It was a noon showing, we got there early to get good seats and the theatre was not too crowded (and it was a good crowd too).
In spite of my best efforts to dampen my enthusiasm, I did go into this movie with higher expectations than it delivered. Summation:
Plot and Direction: Heavy handed and clumsy.
Dialog and Action: Cliche-ridden and wooden.
Special Effects: Flashy but occasionally hard to follow and, ultimately, they did not contribute to advancing the movie.
I had hope for a brilliant conclusion to the prequel trilogy, instead it was just an average one. While it is better than Episodes I and II, I do not think it ever made it to the level of even Return of the Jedi (the weakest of the original trilogy).
Final Grade: C
I will probably do a more spoiler laden analysis tomorrow after I have pondered it more.
