Having watch the new Indiana Jones movie, I decided to revisit Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom which I remembered as not being very good. In fact, it is not bad at all. The dialog is snappy, the movie hits a lot of pulp tropes (Chinese gangsters, torch singers, forgotten cults, magical macguffins, the wonders of the mysterious East, kid sidekick) and really is quite a bit of fun . . . but it is very different from Raiders and, yes, not as good, but Raiders is a masterpiece and most action movies pale in comparison. Well worth watching especially for fans of pulp stories. My Grade: C+/B-
