From last weekend:
Day Watch, sequel to Night Watch and considerable more coherent and with better special effects (which is impressive, NW had some cool F/X). But even with the improvements, the plot is fragmented and weak, and the ending is a letdown even more so than NW (which is again, impressive). Not sorry that I watched them but the pair could have been, should have been, so much better. My Grade: C-
The Horse's Mouth, another old British comedy, this one starring Alec Guinness (playing a role about as far from Obi Wan as they come). Interesting, confusing, slow at times but with a (very) few moments of comedic brilliance. My Grade: C-/C
Concluded (here) last Tuesday, Life on Mars, second -and final- series, returning to 1973 with Sam Tyler. Cop drama mixed with a time travel/ hallucination twist. The last two episodes seems a tad rushed and a little incoherent at times, but ultimately, they did not screw things up at the end. I am so happy. My Grade: B+/A-
I am slightly horrified to learn that there is going to be an American version of Life on Mars, it is going to be such a train wreak . . .
