A bit of catching up here to do.
Mr. Smith goes to Washington, the Frank Capra classic starring Jimmy Stewart as the ethical man sent to Washington only to find out how corruption it (and the delegation from his state) is. To my mind, the best scene was when Mr. Smith went around decking reporters after they quoted him out of context on his arrival. Other than that . . . I found it heavy handed and clumsy. Jimmy Stewart is very engaging but it simply did not click for me, too blatant and manipulative. My Grade: C
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, likely the final film of the Terminator series. Still trying to capture the wonder of the original and the ending was rather neat, but overall, lots of special effects around a fairly thin plot. Arnold does get some rather fun scenes. My Grade: C-/C
Essex Boys, oh so dark. A very realistic look at the modern English criminal scene, with murder, assault, drug dealing, betrayal and worse. Sean Bean plays a recently released con trying to reestablish himself in the organization, his character uses acid on his enemies. A brutal tale and not for the squeamish. My Grade: C+
