Having picked up Season 2 and 3 of the X Files (yes, I am weak) we have mostly been watching those as an episode can be fir into a fairly small segment of time. And with classes starting back for Laura, that is even more important.
Still, managed to fit in a couple of movies since I last updated:
Spirits of the Dead, a French movie from 1968 claiming to be three adaptations of Poe stories, with varying degrees of faithfulness. The first segment in notable for fascinating costumes and Jane Fonda. The second seems to be the most faithful to the source material. The last is directed by Federico Fellini and has little to do with the source material but does have some amazingly bizarre imagery, ultimately it is only worthwhile for featuring a young Terrance Stamp. Interesting but not great. My Grade: C/C-
Angel Heart weird occult noir set in the 1950s. Very grim movie in sepia tones, well acted, not so hot on the plot but very intriguing, good fodder for Unknown Armies. Robert De Niro is especially creepy as Louis Cyphre. My Grade: C+/B-
In Europe, Germany wishes to expand its ban on the swastika to a European Union wide ban, however some Hindu groups object. It would be nice to see someone standing up for the right to free expression too though.
