Review - Hogfather and Moon Child
Dec. 29th, 2007 07:44 pmFor Christmas,
forvrin and
kawakaze let use borrow Hogfather from the Terry Pratchett story. While I like Pratchett, I am not a huge fan and his stories do not seem well suited to transition to the screen, but Hogfather was quite amazingly good. A superb cast, well directed and overall just really fun (though a little preachy at the end). My Grade: B
We also watched (at
doji_kumoko's request) Moon Child starring Hyde and Gackt, both J-Rock stars. An odd and confused movie unsure if it is a vampire, gangster or near future movie, never quite able to balance the three. Has a few good scenes reminiscent of, but not to the level of, John Woo's direction but overall not good. My Grade: D+/C-
