Reviews and historic airports
Dec. 18th, 2006 03:48 pmSo, over the weekend watched two movies, one at home:
Calendar Girls, a charming British movie about a group of older women who are part of the Women's Institute who decide to do a nude calendar to raise money for charity and what results . . . Very well acted and delightful in a very low key fashion. My Grade: B
And in the theatre: Casino Royale, the new Bond movie. Daniel Craig is best when portraying Bond as a soulless killer, he is less convincing in the other aspects of the role but still good. One of the more solid Bond plots, not relying on bizarre technology (but using modern technology well) but just the world as it is. It will be interesting to see where they take Bond next. My Grade: B
Also started watching the Fate / stay night anime. Very interesting so far, but as we have only seen the first four episodes, there is still much to find out about the series. The animation is good though.
In other news, Berlin's Tempelhof Airport, vital in the Berlin Airlift and originally built by the Nazi as a showcase of the new order, is being closed down next year. A fascinating place, take a look at the photos of it if you go to read the article.
