Sin City, Samurai and Sundays
Apr. 18th, 2005 11:17 amFirst, I am feeling much better. My cold is almost entirely gone.
Laura and I finally got out to a movie in the theatre this Sunday (first time since I broke my leg), seeing the early matinee of SIN CITY. A good movie, but not great. Using almost all B&W with particular things highlighted in color and slavishly following the comics panels as storyboards was almost brilliant, but some the conventions that work perfectly in a comic (while blood on black) do not work so well in a movie. Nor did I think mcuh of Miller's dialog or, ultimately, the plots of the stories involved. Still, a fun ride and worth seeing.
After getting back home we finally watched the first DVD of Samurai Champloo, fun, over the top samurai action, and I am sure a plot will be coming along any episode now . . .
Now, I am back at work at Tyche's as I write this. Hope everyone else had a good weekend.
