Ice and Sleet

Well, the ice storm has come and shut everything down. Tyche's Games will be closed today as we cannot get there to open the store.

Ice Glitters
Now Chiming Sleet Falls
Cold Silence

Hope everyone in the North Georgia area is keeping safe and warm.

Another update... I just got a call from my manager. They still don't know when the trucks will be going out, so I'm going to go in at 7am tommmorrow. When I get out depends on what time (or even IF) the truck gets in Sunday, which means there's a chance I might not be able to make any reasonably-timed game tommorrow.

On the other hand, I do have Monday off.

I kind of need to have a decent idea of what's going on, since I'm coming 70 miles for this.

Well for now, we're meeting up at my place at 4 (as per the email Sean sent out). If I'm going to be later than 4, I'll make some calls, but hopefully that won't be the case.

Danger Will Robinson!

OK, I have to pull the plug on tonight's game, and explain how my suckage has reached new levels.

After telling Sarah about my plans last night, she said, "You forgot, didn't you?"

That kind of thing from one's Lady Wife is generally followed by pain and spiritual death.

A while back I comped tickets to the Classic Film Festival thing at the Classic Center via a kickback at work, and Sarah and I made plans to get dressed up and do a classic-classic-movie-and-dinner-date thing.

Somehow, in the heat of breathing in and out, I forgot this detail.

So, after being properly chastised by Sarah, I promised to nuke the game.

An all around apology on this- I pretty much messed around with everyone's day and schedule, and I'm sorry. I just shouldn't be allowed out by myself anymore.

Yow. Well, considering the complications that just popped up on my end,
it's probably for the best. (The truck will arrive "In the late
afternoon", quote-unquote, and I've been sent home until it gets there.
(Which is why I'm sitting here typing this instead of, you know, putting
things on shelves).)

YOU ARE ALL THE DEVIL

I find it interesting (re: almost-creepy) that the two things I wrote down on my Get Fuzzy calendar have fallen through (this game, and a friend's birthday plans). (I say almost-creepy because it was only two things; three would be creepy). Maybe the calendar has bad karma or something.

If I for some reason don't have to pay rent on Tuesday, then it'll be creepy.

Of course, if I don't have to pay rent Tuesday, I may have much larger things to worry about than the karmic balance of a picture of Satchel with little white squares underneath.

Thinking about this at work (just got back, btw), I realized that if your life was a sitcom, you would try to run the game anyway, ducking out constantly during the dinner and movie to call me on my cellphone and run the game, wireless. There would be much hilarity, ending with you (of course) being discovered in the middle of the climactic fight scene, Sarah stealing the phone away, making some appropriately caustic remark, and throwing the phone into a river.

The short bit at the very end (with the credits playing over) would take place at the end of the month, and show me going ballistic at my cellphone bill.

I was going to delete all the comments that showed how lame we all are at planning but because of Keith's last one here . . . I decided to save this part of it.
