Prince Charles, whom I usually ignore, has made some impressively foolish comments on Genetically Modified (GM) crops, I will leave it to more skilled commentators to debunk his counterknowledge and plain distortion of the facts on GM crops. Just rather sad that he has become such a technophobe in his old age.

Also, Reason TV has a nice anti-ethanol piece entitled Silly senator, corn is for food.

Not a very smart way to go about things from Prince Charles. In part I agree with him in that uncontrolled development does risk an environmental disaster. But I don't think they are wrecking the soil. Heck many of the GM crops are designed to function requiring less nutrients than the non-GM ones.

I do not mind people having their opinions but they should back up such statements with some fact rather than vague threats of danger. Food production is science which you would think even a "gentleman farmer" would know.

Aye.. farmers have been growing hybrids and figuring out the best genetic mix for centuries.
